Week 3

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

Here we are at week three, thank God for insomnia because this weeks theme was solely inspired by a late night movie. Two nights ago I was up late and the movie "Tombstone" was on, great movie?, right! I actually forgot how much I enjoyed it, I'll go on a limb and say it's my favorite western gunslinger movie.
I'm going to dedicate this week to country western, I have a pretty good vision of what may work good for this theme. I already have some specific scenes that I would like to incorporate into the music. As far as art I'm not really sure what I want to do so I'll spend time coming up with something that fits. I can almost say for sure that I'm going to create a digital artwork because I'm not in a pencil and paper mood, so let's get to work!

Week three is about 90% done! The beat came out nice, for this one I sampled a world music guitarist from a song a friend passed down to me, Gibran is a life saver because his musical taste is very influential and inspiring so once I heard the music from that it was beyond perfect for the western theme for this week. I also pulled a few sound bites from "Tombstone" and used those to liven up the track and it definitely fits the western theme.
While shuffling through things that were western themed I started to see a reoccurring theme, saying, and a way of life that cowboys lived by, and that is "You live by the gun and you die by the gun." That itself spawned the idea for this weeks art piece. Naturally I wanted to use a gun for the art but
I wanted to use it with a slight message, so what was more fitting than, "You live by the gun and you die by the gun."? As of now I'm trying to figure out how I want to add the text to the illustration of a gun,  need something creative for this to have meaning. Well that's it, I'm Out, holla' at y'all next week. PEACE!
