Week 1

For my 20th Century Art class, Professor Ghiara wants the class to keep a creative journal. I think this is a good idea and it will help me focus on some of the creative things in my life.
For my creative journal I've decided to write in this journal, make at least one beat each week, and create a drawing or digital graphic each week. At the end of the eight week session I will find a way to compile the whole project by weeks.
So far for week one I've produced a beat that I really like, so that's out the way and I need to think of what I would like to create as my art piece, I'm leaning toward a digital graphic but I need to use my hands more to draw so I can get better.

This is the journal I use to document the whole project

As of today I have already created my first music track which is for week #1, this will be my second submission in this new creative journal. So far I like this, I just have to make sure I make time for the elements I decided to incorporate into this project.

Tonight I will complete the art aspect of my submission BUT first let me explain the beat I made. I sampled the music from a classic blaxploitation film called, "Cleopatra Jones" starring Tamara Dobson. I chopped up pieces that I liked most and created the music from there, I added drums, a bass line, and percussion sounds to make the music my own. The finished product is called "RETRO".
The drawing I've decided on will be kind of like a collage ode to the 70's from my point of view, Afros, Cadillacs, slang, etc. Lets see how well i pull this drawing off.
